Today Claudia and I did our first official group ride. One of our local bike shops (BikesPlus) has a late afternoon ride starting at 6:30 pm each Tuesday. It was approximately 18 miles, and we did it in about 1 hour 20 minutes at an average speed of 13.5 miles per hour. Pretty good for a couple of newbies.
Our friend, and awesome cyclist, Bill McDonald hung with us and helped us keep a good pace and a lookout for traffic. It was a very fulfilling experience to complete the ride, and we plan to do these as often as we can.

We Got Some Bikes
Well, I finally decided to quite smoking and start cycling again. I began to cycle about 10 years ago, but I got distracted with college, career, etc... so now I am back into it, and this time with my wife.
I pulled out my Cannondale R300 (CAAD2 Aluminum frame) from the attic after stashing it there 7 years ago... and I also bought a Scott Scale 70 Mountain Bike so I can try to kill myself out on the trails. MTB'ing is not my favorite thing in the world, but the exercise is good and I have a bunch of buddies that do it... so it is also a social thing, too.
Claudia refuses to do off-road riding (I don't blame her), so we got her a Bianchi Brava. This is an excellent bike for her to start with, and she rides it well. Once we get her trained a little more we'll move her up to a nicer lighter Bianchi... then she'll be kicking my ass. ;)
More to come...
